Instructors
Missy Lavender is the Founder and Executive Director of Women's Health Foundation (WHF), the sponsor of the Total Control
® Program. As an "incontinence survivor" and avid runner and yoga practitioner, Missy wanted to develop programs that got women "out of the water closet and into the gym" if they, too were experiencing bladder control symptoms. At the same time, she wanted to create opportunities for all women to embrace and learn about the Pelvic Pyramid - the true center of female power. WHF is committed to sponsor research around Total Control
®, to put on programs centered in pelvic health and fitness and to bring Total Control
® to women everywhere, especially those least able to afford access to private health clubs or gyms. She holds an M.B.A. in Finance from Northwestern University and a B.A. in Speech Communication from Miami University.
Mary Drill is a certified Personal Trainer, ACE Fitness Presenter, and the Total Control
® Master Trainer. She is also one of the key professionals involved in the design of Total Control
® Program. Mary is ACSM certified, holds a BBA and an MS Degree in Kinesiology with special interests in spine, pelvis, and sacroiliac dysfunction; pre/post - partum health and fitness; sports specific training and fitness for the aging population.
Judy Florendo is a pelvic floor Physical Therapist in private practice in Chicago. Her career is focused on women's health, with an emphasis in geriatric rehabilitation, orthopedics, and pelvic and spinal dysfunction. Ms. Florendo is a member of the Section on Women's Health in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the practice chairperson for the International Organization of Physical Therapists (IOPT) in Women's Health. She earned a B.S. in Physical Therapy at the University of Illinois.
Stephanie Kelsick is a practicing physical therapist with special interests in women's health and orthopedics. She is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Moms in Motion certified, and a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Stephanie has been involved with the Total Control
® Program
since its start in 2004. She started as a participant in the class, instructor, and presently a master trainer. She is an American Council on Exercise (ACE) presenter. She earned a Master of Physical Therapy from the University of Iowa and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Simpson College.
Anna Albrecht, MPH is the Director of Wellness Initiatives for the Women’s Health Foundation, a Chicago-based organization dedicated to women’s pelvic health. Anna holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences and a Master of Public Health Degree from The University of Illinois at Chicago. She received a diploma from the Northwestern University Medical Center Program in Respiratory Care and has 10 years of clinical experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Anna is a fully certified in the Stott Method of Pilates and is a Muscle Activation Techniques Certified Specialist. As the owner of Body Positive, Inc., she developed a niche business in the fitness industry, specializing in post-Physical Therapy, rehabilitative exercise. Anna brings her vast experience in clinical care and patient education to the Total Control
® Program. She is an ACE-approved Continuing Education provider and truly enjoys her role as an Instructor Trainer.
Susan Trier is certified as a personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She has additional training in pre/post natal and aging populations. Certified in Total Control
® in 2007, she brought the program to the University of Wisconsin Health Systems. She is also certified in standing, mat, and apparatus Pilates through the PhysicalMind Institute and is certified at the 200 hour Yoga Alliance level through Alignment Yoga. Located in the Madison, Wisconsin area, Susan teaches at a variety of locations including: Harbor Wellness Center and Fitness Club; Edgewood College; the University of Wisconsin Health Systems; the Colonial Club (a senior center); as well as her own private facility, Why Not? Movement Studio. She works with a broad spectrum of clients from rehabilitative to sports specific conditioning. Currently, Susan is working on completing her certification for Tai Chi Fundamentals™ pioneered by Tricia Yu.
Christine Cornell is a Total Control
® Master Trainer with over 20 years extensive experience in the fitness and health industry. Christine holds certifications as a Group Exercise Instructor and Personal trainer from both ACE and AEA. She is also a certified Moms In Motion, and MS Aquatics Instructor. Christine teaches all four formats for the Arthritis Foundation (Tai Chi, Aquatics, Walk with Ease and AF Exercise) as well as presents community education lectures as a member of the AF Speakers Bureau. She is an adjunct faculty member of the College of DuPage, the Aquatics Coordinator for the Good Samaritan Wellness Center, an associate at Central DuPage Hospital, Life Care Services Wyndemere Senior Living Community and DuPage Medical Group. Christine develops, manages and leads wellness programs for Children, Prenatal/Postnatal Women, Older Adults, and Special Populations (Bariatrics, Stroke Survivors, and Parkinson’s). She is an ACE-approved CEC provider for Total Control, and a member of the Total Control Platinum
™ Research study team.
