What is the Total Control™ Program?
Total Control™ is both a full-body fitness program and a health information class about female incontinence. Its aim is to improve the lives of women suffering from urinary incontinence by strengthening those key muscles that support the pelvis (the Pelvic Pyramid™) and by providing a comprehensive educational program focused on alleviating symptoms and finding appropriate care.

What am I going to learn?
Anatomy 101: Learn where these critical organs are and what they look like— everything you wanted to know about your bladder, bowel, and uterus!

The Pelvic Pyramid™: See the three major support structures, the transversus abdominis (TVA), multifidus, and pelvic floor muscles.

Common dysfunctions: Learn about overactive bladder (OAB), stress urinary incontinence (SUI), and mixed incontinence—and how they differ. Also, learn about prolapse and its different types … and about constipation, the real problem!

Treatment options: Learn about your options, from behavioral therapy to pharmaceuticals, devices, and surgery. Discover how to find the right health care provider and what questions to ask and what to expect.

Vocabulary list: Understand all the terms that relate to your pelvic health.

Related topics: Get information about related topics, including nutrition, sex, bathroom habits.

What can I expect to be doing in the Total Control™ Program?
First and foremost, you’re going to be feeling comfortable. You’re going to be with other women who have experienced what you have experienced. You’re going to be able to TALK instead of whisper about the incontinence issue.

Second, you’re going to be learning all about the very core of your body: your pelvis. You’re going to get to know the three muscles that make up the Pelvic Pyramid™, and you are going to receive clear, simple instruction on how to locate and activate those muscles in order to improve and maintain pelvic health and stability.

Third, you’re going to get a comprehensive overview of what urinary incontinence is about and what options are out there to help you. You’ll learn about some of the most common causes for urinary incontinence, how to “train” your bladder, what “normal” urination is, and what nutritional steps you can take to maintain optimal bladder and pelvic health.  You’ll also get informed about the other urinary incontinence treatment options that are available, including biofeedback, pharmaceuticals, devices, and surgery.

Fourth, you’re going to get a great, safe, and effective total-body workout. That’s right, a TOTAL-body workout. You may have stopped exercising in the past because of your symptoms, and this is a way to get back into shape in a safe, comfortable environment. It’s all here: Feel better, get empowered, get educated, and get a workout!
